What’s Up

I have to admit that I’d always thought of 4 Non Blondes as a bit of a one-hit wonder. What’s Up was a hugely successful song back in the early 1990s, then… nothing. It turns out, though, that they were a lot more successful than I’d realised. 4 Non Blondes fell apart a couple of years after What’s Up was released, which launched the solo career of Linda Perry, who was the band’s main songwriter and lead singer.

Joon Wolfsberg is a German singer/songwriter whose country/rock style is well worth a listen. And this makes her acoustic cover of What’s Up well worth checking out.

A song for Sunday: Hang Me Up To Dry by Joon Wolfsberg

Album cover Joon Wolfsberg is a singer-songwriter based in Germany, and Hang Me Up To Dry is taken from her second album, Wonderland.

I first heard this song on episode 219 of The Bugcast and, I have to admit that it didn’t really grab me at the time. However, The Bugcast is recorded live and before the show starts, the songs from the previous show receive another airing. Which is all a very long way of saying that when I heard the song again, while waiting for show 220 to start, I found the song really starting to grow on me.

Since then, I have listened to the whole of Wonderland on Soundcloud and found the album on Amazon (Germany). And the song is still growing on me.
