Today I found the National Geographic 2011 Photo Contest gallery. The theme was nature, and there are some cracking images, all of which can be downloaded for free.
After a little browsing, and a fair bit of downloading, my desktop now looks like this:
An air bubble contorts and twists into a semicircle as a wave breaks in the background as it ascends from the ocean floor. Photographer Mark Tipple dove to the ocean floor and exhaled all his breath, then followed the bubbles to the surface. Captured as part of The Underwater Project.
“Summer was fun, but winter was pretty slow. I tried to find a way to show life below the surface, without shooting fish and coral. The first bubble shots turned out pretty cool.”
